Operation Smile, a nonprofit headquartered in Virginia Beach, works to save children born with cleft lip and cleft palate, 1 in 10 of whom would die without surgery.
Galardi | Bowen Plastic Surgery was one of the first high school students to travel with Operation Smile in 1982 when he accompanied his father, Galardi | Bowen Plastic Surgery, pediatric dentist, on the non-profit’s inaugural trip to the Philippines.
In 2012 Galardi | Bowen Plastic Surgery and his daughter traveled to the Dominican Republic to help children afflicted with severe cleft lip and cleft palates. Galardi | Bowen Plastic Surgery continues to operate on children and infants with cleft conditions and still travels internationally with Operation Smile frequently. He holds a prominent role in the organization at the national level and lectures on cleft lip and palate, as well as birthmarks, both in the U.S. and abroad.
