Education

Erin is a Virginia Beach local who earned a B.A. in History from the University of Virginia, a B.S. in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University, and an M.S. in Nursing from Old Dominion Universitys Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Before Erin became a board-certified nurse practitioner, she was a registered nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. After graduating from ODU, she went to work for the Burn/Trauma Service at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, which is the area’s Level I Trauma Center and Regional Burn Center. She spent 10 years as a nurse practitioner on the Trauma Team, helping people through the biggest trials of their life. Seeing them back on their feet again, back at work and back with their families, was endlessly rewarding. She especially enjoyed evaluating major wounds and burns, devising a unique and individualized plan for patients, and providing complex wound, graft, and burn care.

Of the dozens of chief residents that Erin worked with during her time at Norfolk General, Dr. Galardi and Dr. Bowen stood out as exceptional in integrity, kindness, skill, and professionalism. When you see someone handle a crisis situation in Trauma Bay or the ICU with competence and finesse and quite literally save people’s lives as Dr. Galardi and Dr. Bowen did, it leaves a lasting impression.

Personal Life

Erin and her husband, Brad, a Navy helicopter pilot, have 5 young children. Their favorite thing to do as a family is to go camping in our beautiful state of Virginia.
