What to Expect After Spider Vein Treatment (Sclerotherapy)

You just had your spider vein treatment in Virginia Beach—maybe even with Asclera at GBR Plastic Surgery—and now you’re wondering: What happens next? How will your legs feel? What should you avoid?

Good news: recovery is easy and pretty straightforward. Here’s what you can expect in the days and weeks that follow you spider vein treatment in Virginia Beach.

Right After Your Asclera Appointment

You’ll be able to walk right out of the office! Light walking is actually encouraged following your Virginia Beach spider vein treatment to keep your blood flowing.

We may even wrap your legs in compression and have you pick up compression stockings to wear for a few days. This helps prevent swelling and gives you the best chance at smooth results. According to UW Medicine, you do not want to take the compression garments off at night unless your provider says its ok.

The First 24–72 Hours after getting rid of leg veins

You may notice:

  • Slight bruising or redness at the injection sites
  • Mild swelling or tenderness
  • “Worsening” of the veins (don’t worry—this fades fast!)

You will want to avoid hot tubs, saunas, and heavy workouts for at least 2–3 days. Stay active with light walking and when relaxing, it’s best to keep your legs elevated. Your provider will go over any directions that may be specific to your treatment.

Week 1

About a week after your Spider Vein treatment in Virginia Beach, most clients feel completely back to normal. The veins may still be visible but will start fading in the background. Wearing compression stockings as directed by your provider can really enhance results during this time.

Week 2–4

About 2-3 weeks after getting rid of your spider veins, you’ll start seeing the real magic happen. The spider veins treated will slowly fade as your body absorbs them. Depending on your specific veins, some might disappear completely, while others may require a second treatment with Asclera.

Should I expect downtime?

There is no downtime when getting rid of veins on legs with Asclera. This is one of the reasons our patients in Virginia Beach love spider vein treatment at GBR Plastic Surgery—there’s no downtime, no surgery, and minimal discomfort involved overall.

Can I wear shorts right away?

You can absolutely wear shorts right away! However, some people prefer to wait to wear shorts until bruising fades (about 1–2 weeks). If bruising from your spider vein treatment will keep you from wearing shorts, we recommend waiting until fall/ winter time to get rid of spider veins with Asclera in Virginia Beach.

Follow-up Treatments

Depending on how many veins you have and how your body responds to the treatment, we may recommend additional sessions. Most patients need 2–3 spaced a few weeks apart for full clearance.

Your Legs, Your Confidence

Sclerotherapy isn’t just about clearer legs—it’s about confidence. Whether you’re headed to the beach, wearing a dress, or simply tired of hiding, we’re here to help you feel amazing in your skin.

Ready for legs you love?

Let’s get started. Book your spider vein consultation in Virginia Beach today with GBR Plastic Surgery, and get expert care, real results, and smooth legs that turn heads, and has your friends and family wondering!
