After that, I went back into the operating room area, and Amy, the anesthesiologist, asked some more questions and inputted the IV to put me to sleep. I then laid on the operating table, and the next thing I knew, I was in the recovery room!
When I woke up, I honestly felt pretty good. Before getting a breast augmentation, I did some research, and I heard that some people would wake up and feel pressure on their chest, but I didn’t. Before being wheeled to my boyfriend’s car, Shannon briefed him on post-op instructions and how to take care of me. Everyone caring for me that day was so kind and comforting.”
“Later on, at home, Shannon reached out to me to check on how I was doing; I thought it was nice that they did that. I had my first post-op appointment the day after surgery (a Friday), where the nurse made sure everything looked good and made my next appointment a week later for suture removal.
I made sure not to do too much during my recovery period and followed all instructions. At times, I felt little tweaks and shocks and was scared that I messed everything up, but the nurse I spoke with was so comforting. She had actually gone through the surgery herself, so she was very knowledgeable and told me that everything I was experiencing was completely normal and a part of the healing process.
At my second appointment, the nurse clipped my sutures and took off my tapes. My incisions looked great, and she gave me a few ABD pads to cover the incision area for added comfort when I put my compression bra back on. At that point, I was a week post-op, and I felt like I was pretty much back to normal and had to remind myself from time to time not to do too much.”
