Your skin changes with age. That’s about a lifetime of sun exposure, personal vices, and changes that happen with normal aging. As you get older, you’ll notice that your skin isn’t as tight or smooth as it once was. Even gravity plays a role. When the skin becomes less elastic, gravity makes eyebrows and eyelids sag. You can’t fight gravity, but there are factors that you can control. If time and money are on your side, here are proven innovations that are worth a trip to our office.
Injectible Fillers: Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane
When injected, fillers dramatically plump the skin for months. Research shows that fillers even help reverse aging by encouraging the skin to produce more collagen. Think of Restylane or Juvederm if you want to smoothen your nasolabial folds or plump your lips. Perlane, on the other hand, is a bit thicker and ideal for restoring volume in the hands, around the cheekbones, or along the jawline. You should know that Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane include licodaine to ease the pain of injection, but still stings. You may bruise and swell for about a day after an injection.
Fraxel Laser Treatment
The Fraxel laser boosts collagen, smoothes wrinkles, and breaks up pigment beneath the skin through the pixilated beams of light. Only one part of the skin is targeted with each treatment. After at least five sessions, you’ll experience a significant improvement in skin texture. The Fraxel minimizes lines and leaves skin luminous. You should know, however, that fractionated lasers leave you skin peeling and red for days.
Botolinum Toxin Injections: Botox and Dysport
Botox and Dysport injections smooth away wrinkles by blocking nerve impulses that cause muscle movement. We now inject fewer toxins with each treatment than we used to. Expect results to last about three months at first. These are FDA-approved to treat frown lines, lift the corners of the mouth, and smooth horizontal forehead lines.
Aging gracefully requires more than anti-aging creams, sunscreen, and BB creams. It starts from within. Look at how you act, what you eat, and what treatments you should get for your skin. Browse our pages to learn about these latest skin care and laser treatments.
